Functional Capacity Assessments

Functional Capacity Assessments can help you access NDIS funding during plan appeals, plan reviews, or NDIS applications by giving further information and evidence as to why your child may need support. These are completed using one of the NDIS preferred assessments - Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scales, Third Addition (Vineland-3).

The Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scales Third Edition is the leading instrument for supporting the diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Vineland-3 not only aids in diagnosis, but provides valuable information for developing educational and treatment plans.

The purpose of a Functional Capacity Assessment is to recognise your child's functional capacity in the following areas: communication, social interaction, learning, motor skills and daily living skills.

The assessment comprises of a parent interview and a comprehensive teacher questionnaire (optional). Following the assessment  we provide a comprehensive interpretive report. This report outlines the amount of assistance your child needs to participate in activities, with equipment, aids, modification or assistance from others. In particular highlighting safety concerns, and areas of risk to their everyday function.

You can submit this report with your application, appeal or review documents to NDIS to provide evidence of reasonable and necessary supports.

** These assessments are provided across metropolitan and regional Western Australia **
